Weekend Getaway at Resinda Hotel Karawang

Residing at Karawang Industrial area, this 4-star hotel managed by Padma, is there to serve mostly the business people who stayed around this area either temporarily or for longer period of time. Nonetheless, the door was also widely open for travelers who only came here for a staycation. Yeah, exactly like what my friends and I did this weekend, trying to pull ourselves far away from the busy and hectic capital city, go to the calmer and more peaceful place to simply sit back, chill, and relax.

The 256 rooms to pamper the guests were further divided into 5 types; Deluxe, Signature Deluxe, Grand Deluxe, Premier Suite, and Executive Suite. For this staycation, all my friends and I got the chance to experience one-night stay at their Premier Suite, the 45sqm room, complemented with private living room and spacious bathroom. As I shared the room with my sister, having private living room couldn't be better since it meant one dedicated TV for her and another one special for myself, so no war LOL.

Not only that, we even had small dining table with complimentary fruits and chocolates on it to indulge us. We were then spoiled even more by the Dolce Gusto machine provided in the room, letting us to have cups of caffeine freshly and easily made in the room, to accompany our long chats. Besides that, the bathroom was just another pleasure, serving both shower room and bathub, so you might have guessed it right, please do expect long-bathing-hours.

Enjoying the room already? Well, apparently Resinda Hotel didn't allow you to get easily satisfied. They did serve much more facilities beyond the room for the guests to indulge themselves including Lagoon Pool, Green Park, Sauna, and Fitness Center. Specially made for males, there's also Japanese bath, which's exactly like the original one I found in Japan, providing both hot and cold bath. If you might have noticed, this hotel did provide some special services and facilities for the Japanese. Actually the reason was because this industrial area was mainly populated by Japanese factories and thereby the people as well.

Understanding the deep-love of Indonesians on shopping and malls, as well as to ease the international guests to access the shopping areas, the hotel would open Resinda Park Mall, a shopping center that'll be directly connected to the hotel, by March 2017. But for now, you needn't worry as well since you still had the easy access to Mega Mall and Karawang Central Plaza, while waiting for Resinda Park Mall to open its door for the very first time. Meanwhile if you had other hobby such as golf, you could access either Sedana Golf or Lotus Golf, which were both very close to this hotel. If you're bringing your kids with you, then you could visit either Taruma Leisure Waterpark or Wonderland Adventure Waterpark.

Just like any other staycation we had, it would always be incomplete without the story about the restaurants and the dishes. It's such a blissfulness that for this stay, we could dine in all the restaurants, starting from Tenkai the Japanese one, Oryza the one serving breakfast buffet as well as a la carte international and local menu for lunch and dinner, and last but not least Hai Wang the Chinese one.

When my friends and I firstly reached the hotel after being stuck in almost 3-hour traffic jam, we were welcomed by Tenkai's Japanese buffet, in which they did serve sushi buffet, the special service available only in Saturday. Decorated with mainly wooden-themed design with Japanese traditional carvings, the venue successfully delivered the strong Japanese ambiance. It's such a spacious one, providing both public area as well as private spaces with various sizes. The guests could even dine while enjoying the view from the pool through the huge glass windows.

The Japanese dishes served ranged from choices of sushi rolls, soba, curry, katsu, various poultry cooked in different sauces, desserts, and even ice cream! Overall, the foods were pretty decent and I guessed my favorites were their Siew Mai, Minced Beef Katsu, Pudding, and Kopyor Ice Cream. If you're sushi lover, then you could indulge yourself with the all-you-can-eat sushi package, freshly served from the live sushi bar.

Continuing to the afternoon chillin' time by the pool, we were accompanied not only by the panoramic green view from the park, but also glasses of fresh mocktails ordered from the bar. From all the selections we had, I picked the kiwi one as my recommended glass!

For dinner, we got the special buffet of Indonesian cuisines instead of a la carte menu like what's usually served for dinner in Resinda's Oryza Restaurant. It's the huge one located at the lobby floor, where the guests would also have their breakfast. I was in love with the contemporary design, especially the tiles and the couches! Having a large screen at one of its end, the venue could also be used for enjoying your favorite show while having your meals.

Our dinner featured some signature dishes handcrafted by the chef, such as Gado-gado Tempura (veggies covered in bread crumbs and served with peanut sauce), Pindang Ayam Soup (shredded chicken in brown soup containing traditional seasonings like kluwak, coriander, candlenut, galangal, and many more), and Ayam Garang Asem (leaf-wrapped chicken in sour coconut milk sauce). The latter two were special highlights since they were inspired by Kudus traditional dishes. No wonder why the chef was so proud of those dishes as all of us found ourselves deeply fell in love with every single one of them right at the first trial.

Moreover, my sweetness addiction was also satisfied by the traditional desserts and the ice cream. My pick was Ovaltine and Coffee Break, which were flawless merge of sweet and bitter taste.

At the second day, my friends and I kick-started the dining session with breakfast buffet again in Oryza. For breakie, the guests could also occupy the outdoor space, which was right next to the pool, yeah the same place where my friends and I had our afternoon mocktail time in the previous day. As it's quite windy, we preferred to sit inside, yet we gladly could still enjoy the view.

The available choices of menu were quite rich, from the local to the international ones, quite similar to the common breakfast provided in any 4-star restaurants. The key distinction was the special Japanese breakfast menu provided in one dedicated station. Again, reminding me of Japanese hotels I stayed when I was in Japan, where they did serve Japanese breakfast menu including sushi, Japanese rice with miso soup, salmon, katsu, and many more.

Still feeling quite bloated, we were further coddled with the dimsum brunch in Hai Wang, Resinda's Chinese restaurant which merely served Chinese Cantonese cuisines. Only by paying IDR 135k nett/pax, the guest coule enjoy the dimsum and Chinese menu buffet. The only dishes served there that were out-of-the-package were Roasted Duck, Pork Belly, and Suckling Pig; which were all tried by us *giggle*.

If fairy tales usually had happy endings, our weekend getaway at Resinda certainly had the same. The brunch at Hai Wang would surely make this staycation an unforgettable one by spoiling our taste buds at the climax level. I was mesmerized by all the dimsum menu, regardless they're steamed, baked, or fried as they're sooo tantalizing. If I had to pick my top 3, they would be Baked Honey-glazed Chicken Bun, Chicken and Veggies Ekkado, and Fried Sesame Balls with Red Bean Paste. Not to forget, the trio I mentioned as not part of the buffet, especially the pork belly with its juicy and tender bottom part and crispy top side! Uhlala, already drooling when I was thinking about it.

And to impeccably close this summit part, I had their Avocado and Chocolate Pudding as well as Lemongrass Jelly. Similar to my experience with the pudding in Tenkai, Hai Wan's were also mind-blowers being so silky and complemented with the delectable sauce. I was more than sure to nominate Resinda's restaurants as pudding experts *standing ovation*!

In a nutshell, I was highly astonished by the fact that Karawang's actually a much more beautiful place than I thought, and I was overly cosseted by the complete package of facilities, services, and foods delivered by Resinda. This short sweet escape has turned out far beyond my expectation! Can't thank you more for having us, Resinda ;)

Oh My God! Big Succulent Feast at Ow My Plate

Ow My Plate, you perfectly captured my attention right at the very first time I heard of your name. Yes, it's indeed a very ear catchy one and I guessed a great representative of the restaurant's distinctive point. YESSS, the plate's surely the emphasis as the dishes here were all served in hotplate. Such a remarkable concept innovated and such a memorable name chosen!

Located at Muara Karang/Pluit area, just by the main street, the outlet of Ow My Plate's highly visible. Easily described, it's actually very close to the long well-known Coffee Kulture's initial outlet. Especially as they're still putting those gigantic banners in front of the venue, my friends and I could easily find the place without getting lost (like what I typically experienced when trying to find new place LOL).

The venue was quite a sizable one, being further separated into indoor and outdoor spaces. The indoor one actually quite dominated the overall area, as the outdoor was just a petite one, able to accommodate around two to three tables at maximum.

Talking about design, from the concept I captured by my sight, they were trying to deliver the casual theme, allowing every single people regardless the age, the dress, and even the size of the group, to come and dine in; simply said, also aligned with the highly affordable price of the dishes offered. They even let the guests to enjoy nice warm dishes at very pocket-friendly costs.

Despite that fact, the selections of dishes provided were actually quite rich, serving rice on a hotplate with various types of sauces. I heard that at the early opening time, the choices were still quite limited, yet just recently, they launched much more options, giving more alternatives (read: 'more dilemma') to the guests in choosing which one suited them best. Besides, not only the sauces, the guests did have several varieties of protein to be paired with their favorite sauce. And to give extra happiness, additional toppings could even be added into the dish, meaning you could even have your plate being customized, mixing the ingredients as per desired.

Beef Black Pepper Rice (IDR 32k)

Putting the most mainstream menu as the starter, here was the dish which you might have eaten for multiple times in that 'other restaurant' (if you knew what I meant). The same as there, Ow My Plate's version did have the honey and garlic sauces which you could enjoy with your dish. Surprisingly, coming in much more affordable price, Ow My Plate's one was yummy and the portion was doubtlessly fulfilling!

Grilled Chicken Satay Rice (IDR 30k)

I thought one of the unique innovation was this dish, serving peanut sauce together with the hotplate rice. Yes, just as its name reflected, it's like eating chicken satay, only that you didn't have to struggle pulling out the chicken from the wooden stick. As I loved almost every single dish with peanut sauce, this plate was definitely one of my fave <3.

Dory Sambal Matah Rice (IDR 36k)

If you loved spicy foods, this was made for you. And for me, the idea of combining it with dory was perfect. Moist fish cooked in flavorful sauce with abundant onion slices and chili cuts; simply another one suited my taste bud really well.

Chicken Katsu Gulai Rice (IDR 30k)

Gulai RIce served on a hotplate? Seriously? Such a breakthrough, as I usually had gulai either at home or at simple depot, and it's always served on just normal plate with plain rice. One more thing, the chicken was bread-crumbed and fried just like katsu, so distinctive. Too bad that I didn't get the chance to try this at my last visit, but no worries, that would be simply the reason to come back, wouldn't it? ;)

Volcano Rice - Level 3 (IDR 55k)

Taking the spiciness to more extreme level, there was the Volcano rice, which gave the option for the consumer to choose the desired spiciness level for their hotplate rice. It ranged from level 1 to 5, but for those who're intolerant to spicy dishes, you could always go for the level 0. If you looked at the picture and you thought it's quite big, I would tell you that it was literally huge! It was said to be shared by two, but honestly speaking, if you ordered the higher level one, you might need to share with more people or otherwise get your tongue burnt ;). Nonetheless, it was a very delectable one and I guessed the champion among all the savory dishes. The toppings consisting eggs, beef meatballs, chicken sausages, corn, cheese, onions, mushrooms, and leek, were generously given and that beaten egg yolk poured from the top of the rice mountain was such a heavenly indulgence! Just like a volcano, the luscious taste did 'explode' in your mouth. Beware of the thought that you're strong enough to handle the hot flavor as my friends and I did it when we picked level 3 and we ended up drinking a lot though we had to admit we couldn't resist to keep eating more.

Ow My Brownies (IDR 32k)

OW MY G*D! This dish had a name that couldn't suit it better. When I read it, I literally meant it. It's mine and I did want it to be just MINE. Sorry for being so selfish *peace*, but I simply loved this chocolate brownie too much. The idea of serving it warm with abundant chocolate sauce and flawlessly complemented it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, the component with totally different temperature, was SUPERB! Literally melted in my mouth and I was totally sold. HANDS UP!

Kraffel Cheese Mantou with Ice Cream (IDR 25k)

Not yet stopping there, Ow My Plate still had another dessert to break my jaw, Kraffel Cheese Mantou! My friends, Leo and Yenny, who had come here prior to me, actually had kept mentioning how they're highly addicted to this dessert and apparently I couldn't agree more with them. This was just another stunning invention from this newly opened restaurant. Crispy-outside-soft-inside mantou, crunchy Tango Kraffel, and sweet vanilla ice cream; the impeccably hypnotizing trio to which you wouldn't be able to shake your head.

Ice Lychee Yakult (IDR 14k)

Having had mountainous amount of foods wouldn't be complete without the thirst quencher and at that time, I badly craved for something refreshing as it's hot and humid. That made me opted for this fresh combination of lychee and yakult, serving the twist  of sweet and sour in one cup.

Trying quite many dishes from their menu, I could doubtlessly say that this place was worthy for repeating visits, due to both the palatable taste as well as the friendly price. As I heard that they would soon open in Tangerang, I could probably sign-up as loyal customer *giggle*. I would surely be back for their sauces I haven't tried such as Teriyaki, Rica-rica, Saos Padang, Curry, Aglio Olio, White Cream, and Gulai. And most importantly, their AMAZING DESSERTS!!
