Happiness in a Cup by Aroma Gelato Experience

Hip hip hooray! Another one to celebrate, another new comer in Gelato family, Aroma Gelato Experience. Occupying the spot at Senayan City's lower ground, which was usually used for pop-up stalls of banks, property developers, and others; there it was their very first petite outlet in Jakarta, even to be exact in Asian countries! Originated from Italia, the owners basically wanted to let the other Indonesians to experience the 'happiness in a cup' they got when they had their vacation in this Colosseum country.

Though the size was a bit small, it could accommodate up to 10 people, allowing the guests to sit and chill while enjoying their sweet tooth. It was a quite visible one as people would mostly pass by this spot when they reached Sency's ground floor either to find places to eat or simply to go for shopping in Foodhall.

Despite the fact that it was authentically Italian Gelato and was first found there, all the cups served right here in Jakarta, were freshly made locally. Some of the ingredients were indeed globally sourced, such as hazelnuts from Piemonte - Italy, pistachios from Sicily, and vanilla from Madagascar; yet some were also taken from the local sourcing. Most importantly, they were all naturally made, without any additives, preservatives, artificial colorings or even artificial flavors. Thus, it's safe to be consumed by all people regardless their ages. Oh yeah, they're gluten free as well, so guilty free fellas *wink wink*.

I was beyond excited when I figured out they had rich selections of flavors on the menu, delivering a distinctive point to the existing Italian gelato brands. They varied from the classic all-time favorite like Vanilla (Vanilla Madagascar), ChocolatePistachio (Pistachio Bronte), Rum & RaisinRaspberryCookies & Cream, (Stracciatella), Coffee (Caffe Del Nonno), Mocha, and many more; till the unique ones like Mascarpone with Dates and Walnuts, White Chocolate with Almond Flakes, Sea Salt Caramel, Apple Pie, Lemon with Basil, Orange with Ginger, etc; even seasonal flavors like Durian and Mango! Doubtlessly, it gave me severe dilemma to pick which flavors to opt for in this very first trial. Luckily, the customers were allowed to request for free tasting before making their order. If only my tummy could accommodate all, I perhaps would go with every single flavor *pardon my greed*. Nonetheless, life's always about choice so I did have to make it. So the 2 flavors ended in my cone were Pistachio and Mascarpone with Dates and Walnuts. The milk taste was rich but not overly creamy. The sweetness level was just right, and each of the flavors could be strongly felt on the taste bud. Ultimately indulging till the very last lick. And if you asked me cup or cone? I would surely go for cone as it's not merely a companion, but another important part to enjoy. Aroma's was a pretty light one; quite thin and crispy with wafer-alike texture and flavor.

Besides gelato, Aroma did serve various types of coffee. This also meant that you could enjoy your cup of caffeine together with your choice of gelato. Yes, it's exactly Affogato! Well, I haven't tried it this time though so couldn't tell you much. Will share later once I had it and hopefully soon (fingercrossed). If you fancied cold drinks, and Gelato Frappe was also available to spoil your palate; another one I wish I would try in near time together with the Affogato.

Another breakthrough created was its La Torta - Gelato Sundae, which I guessed was kind of first mover advantage for Aroma as others haven't had it yet (well, those who had it currently were mostly ice cream). Some combinations were available on the menu, from the fruit-based to the milkier ones, and my pick fell to Nutellino. Simply said, chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate LOL! Yes, most of the components of it were chocolate so if you were a chocolate addict, this was TOTALLY YOU! It was a great one to try if you wanted touch of toppings to be enjoyed with your gelato. To make it even better, I guessed the chocolate gelato needed to be slightly more bitter (perhaps with stronger dark chocolate flavor) as the toppings were already quite sweet. Yet overall, my palate did get its prosperity moment delivered by this cup.
