Hi there! It’s time to shout T.G.I.F!! Yeahhh. Finally Friday has come! Some of you might think
‘Oh no! Holiday is almost over!’. Nonetheless,
for others who have started working since Wednesday (like me), today is just
the beginning for another tummy-prosperity moments. For you the dessert lovers,
you’d better be prepared to drool because for this T.G.I.F celebration, I am just
highly in the mood to write about desserts!
For you whose ‘basecamp’ is at Senopati and its
surroundings, you definitely have been aware of Le Cafe Gourmand, which is
located right in front of Le Quartier. The venue is spacious and the interior
is so lovable. Simply said, it is just an ideal place for relaxing, chilling,
and letting your tummy get prosperous.
Additionally, for those who are in Surabaya, the great
news is your tummy might also be satisfied and you don’t need to drool too much
as Le Cafe Gourmand is also available there (even with 3 outlets!) and actually,
they are even originated from Surabaya. The menus as well as the taste are
exactly similar to the one in Jakarta. I am 100% sure about this as I have ever
visited both of them.
Since I am in the mood for sweets, all the menu reviewed
would be the sweet ones :p
Mogador (IDR 48k)
- French crepes served with coffee ice cream (flavor
can be changed), peanut butter, oreo cookies, and chocolate sauce -
If you have ever read my review on MOJO Kitchen & Bar,
you definitely have known that I’m a peanut-butter lover. No wonder, Mogador
had captured my interest when making the order. However, instead of having
coffee ice cream as the companion, I requested to have salted caramel. Actually
I desired to order creme brulee but pity me, it was already sold out. Looking
at the appearance, the dish was kinda cute as the ice cream somehow looked like
the head of a creature, while the oreo cookies were used as its ears. As
expected, I enjoyed the dish as the crepes’ thickness was perfect and I simply
loved the mixture of the generously-given toppings. The combination of salty
peanut butter with sweet salted caramel ice cream, oreo cookies, and chocolate
sauce was indeed ideal.
Montebello (IDR 48k)
- French crepes served with Nutella spread, salted
caramel ice cream (flavor can be changed), and biscuit crumble -
For chocolate lover, Montebello was the right choice
for you. The chocolate taste could be felt in every single bite as the Nutella
topping was abundantly spread on the thin crepes. If you prefer it to be not
too sweet, you might change the ice cream flavor into any kind of sorbet or
coffee.
Choices of Cone
Ice cream with cone (IDR 35k)
If you are the type of person who just enjoy ice cream
if it is solely served, then you might prefer this one. Single, double, or
triple scoop; the choice is all yours. You might also choose your desired
flavor and color of cone. If you want to see all the available flavors and
colors of cone, you’d better come early in the morning because the favorite ones
are often sold out very fast.
French Toast (IDR 48k)
- French toast with warm red berries compote,
mascarpone, and maple syrup –
Some of you might be the ones who prefer the
combination of sweet and sour. If you’ve just nodded your head, then this dish
is yours. What to expect when sweet maple syrup, slightly sour red berries, and
creamy mascarpone covered the super moist and buttery smelled French toast? Definitely
heaven!
Chocolate Caramel Tart (IDR 35k)
Except its quite mini size, everything else related to
this tart were great! It showed the flawless combination of crispy crust, Valrhona
chocolate ganache, caramel custard, and chocolate glazing. If I should choose
one word to represent this super creamy dessert, I would say it was MARVELOUS!
Affogato Espresso (IDR 53k)
- Espresso with vanilla ice cream -
For coffee-based beverage, affogato might easily be
the winner for the best presentation. As the color of vanilla ice cream was so distinct
from espresso, the view of the melted ice cream that started to mix with the
espresso irresistibly made you drool. I really loved the presentation of
Gourmand’s Affogato as they stuffed the vanilla ice cream at the middle of the
glass, and left some empty space at the bottom part. So, by the time you
scooped the ice cream with your spoon and created a whole to the bottom part,
you could see the espresso leaking and filling in that empty space. Definitely
will make you want to try it as soon as possible! Moreover, this affogato also
proved that appearance did not lie. The taste was indeed a pleasant combination
of slightly sour espresso and sweet vanilla ice cream.
Caffe Latte (IDR 35k)
- Espresso with hot milk -
Having the ideal sweetness level and being served in a
very generous-sized glass, this warm beverage was the best companion for long
chit-chat time. Taste was great, portion was huge. All I could see was just a
satisfied smile on my face.
In a nutshell, Le Cafe Gourmand is recommended if you
are trying to find a cozy place to stay for quite long time. The desserts and
beverages are great, and the service is satisfying. Although I still think that
the French crepes can simply be made at home, but the generous toppings given
makes the price turn to be acceptable. If currently you are still thinking
about the place to go for your T.G.I.F celebration, Le Cafe Gourmand definitely
deserves a try. I recommend you to hurry reserve the table, otherwise you might
have to queue as it’s almost always fully-occupied.
