Actually, this was not my first time going to San Churro. Yes, to be exact, this was the second one as I had the first visit there last year. San Churro was a quite popular chocolate-specialized dessert cafe in Australia, having more than 50 outlets spread in NSW, Queensland, Victoria, Western, South Australia, and Australian Capital Territory. Yes, it was so many that I thought all Australian must know it.
Having high exposure on those highly tempting chocolate desserts pictures as the branches were available at the places I visited, I certainly couldn't resist to try it. I finally made it to their Bondi outlet, enjoying the chocolate's guilty pleasure with the blissful view of the infamous Bondi beach.
Although it's not as huge as the typical San Churro outlet, let's say the one in Westfield Chatswood, the outlet was pretty spacious, divided into indoor and outdoor area. The outdoor one was more crowded as most of the guests must want to have the beach view while dining. The design, however, was just like any other branches; well I guessed they did make it standardized. The interior was mainly themed with anything about chocolate; pictures, quotes, facts, etc.
Once again, I was delighted by the service delivered by Australian's cafe. All the baristas and the waiters/waitresses were very responsive, starting from immediately greet the guests and assisted them to find table, offered the menu and provided recommendation on the most favorite ones, even asked for your preference and tried to come up with the choices. Simply said, extremely helpful, making you feel exactly like a queen as the customer.
Tell you what, as a dessert addict, I am so blessed to have my whole family members also love desserts. Well, probably not as much as I am, but it's still to the level that dessert is mandatory post-having the heavy meals. So that's the reason why we always ordered more than one to be shared as one definitely wouldn't be enough ;)
Having the chocolate desserts only wouldn't be complete without having the chocolate drink as well. So there it was on the table, hot dark chocolate topped with marshmallow. Actually, we initially wanted them to be toasted marshmallows, however as we forgot to tell the waiter so they turned out to be the plain ones. The drink came in pretty thick texture and I loved how it gave that nice chocolate scent, making me couldn't wait to have a sip on it. Great thing, the aroma didn't lie as the chocolate flavor was indeed bold and indulging. If only the marshmallows were toasted ones, this cup must be beyond immaculate.

Churros for Two (AUD 14.95)
As reflected by its name, this dish was intended to be served for 2 people, containing 6 churros and 2 pots of melted couverture chocolate of your choice. The available options were dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and hazelnut spread. I opted for the first two as I did want to try the standard ones. The golden brown fried churros were simply lovely as they're not oily and the batter itself tasted yummy. The chocolate dipping came as perfect companion with thick texture and not overly sweet taste. Such a perfect light bites to accompany you chillin' by the beach.
Recently, they've just launched their new variant, filled churros. So instead of having to dip your churros into the chocolate, now you have it already filled into the center of your churros. As I haven't tried it, this new innovation would certainly be the one I go for at my upcoming visit.
If you fancied to try the one that's not too mainstream, then you should go for the funnel cake. It's basically the combination of doughnut as the batter's similar to doughnut, and pancake as it came in pancake shape. For the original variant, the funnel cake was covered by cinnamon sugar and melted milk chocolate topping, plus additional scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate flakes on top. Simple ingredients yet again were able to satisfy my palate well. If you preferred crispier texture for the base, I recommended you to go for churros. Nevertheless, if you wanted something softer, then this funnel cake would suit you better.
Chocolate Volcano (AUD 12.95)
Desiring something more sinful? When you just nodded your head, then this Chocolate Volcano was SO YOU! As you might have guessed correctly, it's chocolate lava cake served with vanilla ice cream. I personally thought it's quite gigantic compared to common chocolate lava cake, but it honestly pleased me more with this fulfilling size :P . Being served warm, the ooey gooey chocolate immediately ran out once you cut the cake, making you have to hold your saliva from dropping out of your mouth. I was MADLY IN LOVE with the strong dark chocolate taste, flawlessly combined with the sweet taste coming from the vanilla ice cream. The only thing you could probably found left on the plate was the spoon. It's clean till the very last chocolate drop!
Hot Chocolate with Marshmallow* (AUD 7.45)
*Could be adjusted to toasted marshmallow
Having the chocolate desserts only wouldn't be complete without having the chocolate drink as well. So there it was on the table, hot dark chocolate topped with marshmallow. Actually, we initially wanted them to be toasted marshmallows, however as we forgot to tell the waiter so they turned out to be the plain ones. Being overloaded with chocolate today, I would still say that I would surely come back to try San Churro's other menu. They might be not the most sinful versions of chocolate desserts and some of them did look quite simple, yet I thought they're enjoyable as the emphasis was on the chocolate taste itself which for me was delightful. So if you're a chocolate lover, this was doubtlessly your paradise.
