A Night to Enjoy at Radisson Bali

In my life, there’s a magic that always happens in each of my holiday, which I wish never happened. I have no idea why, but I think days suddenly turn to be 12 hours only every time I’m on my vacation. This time, the sad fact happened again in Bali. I felt like I was just landed in Ngurah Rai then *boom*, suddenly it’s already the last night to spent there. So here my friend and I were, Radisson Bali Legian Camakila, our last home before the short sweet escape came to its end.

Formerly known as Ramada hotel, this not-so-huge-yet-homey hotel is located right at the center of Bali’s heart. Yes, it’s Legian, one of the sleepless spots in Bali, which is just walking-distance from Kuta and Seminyak. Resided at the middle of Bali’s crowd, well you can tell how high the occupancy rate of the hotel is. I guess at each corner I passed during my stay, there’s always someone to meet there.

Providing 103 deluxe rooms, 11 deluxe poolside rooms, and two suites, the hotel’s actually not that sizable. However, it can always be on your list of places to stay when you visit Bali considering its strategic location and complete facilities provided. I can see couples and families spend their whole day at the hotel just enjoying the spa, the fitness center, the swimming pool, the restaurant, the rooftop bar, as well as the beach next to the hotel. Not only that, people do use it for events, celebration, and even wedding reception. One of the nice facts, which I think most of the guests (including me) really enjoy, is the long swimming pool that lies just next to the restaurant from where people can order foods and refreshments and have them enjoyed right by the side of the pool. Besides, on the other end of the pool, there reside the room’s balconies where the guests can enjoy the view.

   

The first time my friends and I arrived at the lobby, we were immediately greeted by the hotel’s manager and marketing crew. From the 3 dining places they have; Tao restaurant, Azaa restaurant, and Kila Lounge Bar, we were hosted to enjoy our lunch at the first one. Despite the quite hot temperature due to Bali’s dry and sunny weather, I loved the view and the ambience at Tao since I could be delighted by the beach view while enjoying my meals. The service was also nice and pretty fast, and the selection of dishes provided was quite rich ranging from Italian, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and even Indonesian! Not to miss the chance to try the foods they served, so there we were ordering pizza, Vietnamese spring rolls, pork with sweet soy sauce, beef salad, garlic and chili calamari, and even french fries *LOL*! 

  

Basically, all of them were actually types of foods which you could easily find at any places. Moreover, in the beginning I was quite doubt that the taste would be good since the restaurant sold quite many different types of foods coming from distinctive countries. Surprisingly, it turned out that my worry was not proven. The pizza was cheesy and the generously given toppings were scrumptious, the veggies in the spring rolls and salad were so fresh and the beef was impeccably tender. The calamari and the french fries might look simple, however they were enjoyable light snacks as the seasoning were not overpowering. To be honest, I didn’t try the pork as I was insanely full at that time, but from my friend’s comments I could tell the pork was juicy and luscious. As for the drink, the pure watermelon juice just came as flawlessly refreshing complement as the sweetness level suited my palate well.

 

 

Finally at our very last day in Bali, we also got the chance to enjoy the breakfast at Azaa restaurant, the one located just next to the pool. The foods served were actually just like typical hotel breakfast, but guess what? Lazily lying on the couch, enjoying the breakie after morning swim? Heaveeennnn! Superb food for my eye sight in early morning :)

Overall, I recommend you to give a try for Radisson, especially if you’re planning to travel around Legian, Kuta, or Seminyak. For me it’s so convenient staying here as I’m just few blocks away from all those ‘happening’ cafés and restaurants, allowing me to do the non-stop hunting with my fellow foodie friends!

Short Sweet Escape at Inaya Putri Bali

It’s been months since the very first time my foodie friends from Daily Food Seeker and I had the idea of having a short sweet escape together. Yes, definitely an insane culinary trip! You don’t hear me wrong when I say insane since what we do are indeed eating, eating, and keep eating. Finally, just last week, we made it into reality in our short trip to Bali.

 

We had been soooo excited for this trip that we had prepared our long long list for places-to-go since weeks prior to the trip. Thank God, when we were in the middle of confusion in finding the best place to stay, Inaya Putri Bali welcomed us to spend our first two nights there. So there we were, enjoying this piece of heaven resided among the well-known resorts at Nusa Dua.

 

Bringing out the combination of traditional Balinese and contemporary modern design, the hotel pampered my eye-sight with up-to-date scenery yet still able to make me feel the Balinese ambience. Each corner of the hotel actually has its own Balinese concept presented, showing to the guests the authentic Bali atmosphere.

 

Putting my very first step in the hotel, I was fascinated with this 9.1 hectares hotel. Having this huge-sized area, it was completed with 460 guestrooms, one- and two-bedroom suites, as well as one- and two-bedroom villas. The guests can enjoy facilities like several main pools, giant-sized garden, and beautiful beach just right behind the hotel. Besides, they do have gym facilities and private wedding chapel, both of which will open real soon! If you’re wondering how the wedding chapel looks like, yes it’s that recently happening transparent pyramid which you might have seen in quite many places now. However, I still love it very much especially with the amazing view right in front of it.

 

For this trip, my friends and I were so lucky that each of us got the deluxe room with lagoon pool access. Yes you heard me right, one spacious room (and spacious bathroom as well!) for one person to enjoy, accompanied by the nice pool to be shared by the five of us. No need to ask, the view from the pool side was just perfect vitamin for the eyes.

 

 

 

Not to be missed, the most important part of the stay, the foods! Inaya actually offers 5 different dining venue, each of which serves different types of foods as well. We got the chance to try 3 of them; breakfast in Gading restaurant, lunch in Homaya, and dinner in Pesisir beach bar. The first one we had was the dinner in Pesisir beach bar, which brought the ‘kaki lima’ concept, letting the guests to enjoy the real Indonesian dining experience with street food like satay, meatballs, grilled corn, whole coconut, and many more! The signature drink offered here was even ice tea with innovative combination of ingredients, like Rosella, coconut, popping bubble, etc.

 

Next was the breakfast in Gading restaurant, which for me was special as well since we were given the options to order ala carte dishes available in the breakfast menu in addition to the selection of dishes available in the buffet stations. Most of them were egg-based and I was quite surprised that they did serve eggs benedict with complete components I usually had in restaurants. Some choices of mixed fruits juices were also provided and my personal favorite was their lychee mint. From the stations, you could find complete selections of Western, Indonesian, and even Chinese style breakfast!

 

Saving the best for the last, our nice staycation was flawlessly ended with lunch in Homaya, stands for Home at Inaya, a semi fine-dining Indonesian restaurant which supposedly open for dinner only. I was truly honest when I wrote this but I personally thought this was one of the best Indonesian foods I’ve ever had in my lifetime. Every single dish served was so luscious and I could tell that they’re high quality ones. Rawon and lamb shank were so tender and not fatty at all, while the opor ayam and prawn were so tasty that I could feel rich combination of spices in them. Besides, all dishes were perfectly presented, delivering the luxurious feel.

 

The award winner went to the dessert, not because I was a dessert-lover (well, might be one small factor), but simply because the food was so out-of-the-box! It wonderfully presented the traditional wedang ronde in super inventive way, serving taro-based balls, jackfruit pudding, coconut ice cream, and most importantly for me was its not too strong ginger flavor. I even told the marketing team to make this their signature dessert as I loved it a little bit too much. And if Pesisir beach bar offered special ice tea, Homaya offered special jamu (traditional medicine) like ginger, turmeric acid, and saffron-colored rice. I mostly always hate Jamu but I guess this one might be the only exception.

 

The two remaining dining places I haven’t tried were Ja’jan Bistro which served Indonesian and other Asian dishes, and Bar Lounge which mainly served beverages.

 

Overall, all my friends and I really really enjoy our 2-night stay in Inaya Putri. We were totally pampered and fully satisfied with the room, the facilities, and the service provided. It’s doubtlessly a GIANT YES to “going-back-again”! Highly recommended!

Nasi Juara, ‘Saviour’ during the Hectic Days

Looking at how rare I’m writing a blog post, you must have known how busy my days are. Yes, tight deadlines, tons of meetings, name it. If some people get slimmer during times like this, that might not work for me. Some of you might just nod your head, agreeing that we just can’t think when we’re hungry *LOL*. Well, thanks to technology that it brings ease to our lives. We just simply need to call and have our brain supply (read: foods) delivered to our busy desks.

 

Last week, my friend introduced me to this Nasi Juara, Nasi Kucing coming with two choices of menu; Nasi Ayam and Nasi Ikan Teri. Both of them were completely served with tempe orek, green beans, egg, and serundeng (sautéed grated coconut). For me, these two dishes were simply delicious and surprisingly exceeded my expectation for Nasi Kucing. Although I couldn’t have them fresh since it took time to deliver them from the kitchen to my desk, but the taste was still luscious and the veggies were still fresh and crispy. I love the combination of salty taste coming from the chicken and fish, with the sweet taste from the tempe orek. Besides, Nasi Juara also understands Indonesians so well that it’s served with special chili sauce. For you who can’t afford spicy taste, you needn’t worry since they’re available from spiciness level 1 to 3, as well as without chili. With only IDR 20k (excluding delivery fee), I could get both my palate and tummy satisfied.
