XSIS Cafe

Just like going to the ‘mom-pop store’ (a.k.a warung) in the neighborhood, that pretty much represented how close the cafe was to my home. Well, I’ve been aware of it since prolly months ago, yet as always procrastination made me finally lost the intention to visit it from my memory.

Finally, just couple days ago when one of my friends asked me if there’s any cozy place neat the office (which was also close to my home), I recalled Xsis and hence there came this weekend, my very first visit to the cafe!

Residing right in the middle of a food center near Vanya Park, BSD, the place was pretty spacious, consisting of two levels and an outdoor space next to the entrance. It’s just like hidden gem for me, as the place seemed to be not yet known much by people yet, given it’s not that overly crowded. I loved the interior quite too much as it’s not mainly monochromatic as the place combined it with a touch of gorgeous soft colors. It seemed like entering a photo gallery where I was about to take pictures in each corner.

The food selections were not few, serving comfort food from rice to pasta, appetizers to desserts. The drink choices were quite rich as well, including some signature ingredients of the house, which weren’t commonly found elsewhere.

Salted Egg Chicken Rice (IDR 40k)

Kick-starting the weekend casual dining, I went quite mainstream today, picking the safe choice and indeed my favorite - Salted Egg Chicken Rice. If you fancied fish, they did serve dory as the substitute. I opted for the chicken, fried with well-seasoned crispy batter. The salted egg sauce suited my palate well, presenting the right level of thickness and creaminess. Important note, what you got did worth the price as the portion was fulfilling and the chicken chunks were served generously. Just like how most of us would wish, it surely came with sunny side up on top, whose wellness level would be your choice. Mine was half-done, and it did come with that perfectly runny yolk, so I could enjoy that heavenly moment it melted on my chicken chunks and mixed well with the overall dish. Yum yum!

Basque Burnt Cheesecake (IDR 35k)

Some of you might be familiar with this kind of cheesecake, but I guess some might be not. Called as burnt cheesecake, it came in thick texture with bold cheese taste that got me hitched at first bite. Cheese lover would doubtlessly love this as much as I did, but those who were not that much into cheese might think the cheese hint was too strong. I enjoyed this dessert a lot and could imagine how spoiled I would be having this paired to my afternoon coffee.

Iced Pandan Latte (IDR 37k)

Not having my coffee dose yet, I went for this drink, not so classic yet not that peculiar as well. Nonetheless, XSIS seemed to make it their own way as the pandan flavor infused into the iced latte had its own special taste. This was a pleasant one to go for if you needed a bit touch of flavor in your coffee, but not something overpowering the main beverage.

Hot Hojicha Latte (IDR 30k)

If you belonged to the hot gang, don’t you be worry fellas as the options were also plentiful for you. One of those marked with star as the sign of favorite, which captured my attention, was surely this Hojicha Latte. Again, this XSIS version had its own way to spoil my taste bud with its intense roasted green tea, which was uncommonly paired to coffee. For hojicha big fan, this drink was certainly must-try!

A weekend well-spent having my productive Saturday dining-and-working session in this cozy cafe. As it’s just so close to home, I bet more upcoming visits would definitely cone just real soon.
