Well-spent Brunch at Koultoura Coffee

It’s been quite a long time since I visited Koultoura for the first time. However, I can’t resist to write this review as I really really love this coffee shop. Not only due to the great coffee served there, but also the spacious place that has been designed with simple yet elegant concept. Unfortunately, I only took very few pictures at that time :(

 Croque Madame (IDR 45k)

One out of the many things I really love from visiting coffee shop is having breakfast menu. I have always been excited to try various breakfast menus from all coffee shops I visited. This time, this super cheesy dish has captured my interest. Without thinking too much, I picked Koultoura’s Croque Madame as the main dish for my brunch. Different from common Croque Madame, presentation wise, I thought this looked more like Croque Monsieur as it was topped with super generous amount of melted cheese instead of a sunny side up. Stuffed with grilled ham and egg, this simple dish was just perfect for me! As usual, the cheesier the dish was, the more I would love it! Not to forget, the golden brown potato wedges, which came as the side dish, were brilliant and I could finish them just in a blink. Very crispy and not greasy, one word, HEAVEN!

Hot Mellow Chocolate (IDR 35k)

Actually, before visiting this place, I had done my little research on the foods and beverages served here. Yeah, you may have made a right guess if you thought that I did it through Instagram :p. First time looking at the picture of this Hot Mellow Chocolate, I immediately decided that I definitely should try this one! So here it was, my hot mellow chocolate was finally served on the table. The marshmallow was not dipped into the hot chocolate so you still could snap that beautiful latte art (or should I call it hot chocolate art? :p) before enjoying this drink. As you see, I was really happy as it came with quite generous portion if you compared it with other hot chocolate you generally found in other places.

When it came to taste, VOILA! If people say don’t judge a book by its cover, this time you surely may judge this beverage by its appearance. Not only looked wonderful, the taste was indeed amazing as the chocolate flavor was so strong and the texture was quite thick. For you chocolate lover, you might have the same opinion with me that ‘This is just SO ME!’. Additionally, your happiness would be completed with those two big marshmallows dipped in the hot chocolate. Just one thing, I thought it might be even better if they used smaller marshmallows so they could melt easier :). But most importantly, this is one of my most favorite hot chocolate now!

Fluffy Latte (IDR 40k)

If you were an ice cream and a coffee lover as well, this Fluffy Latte would perfectly suit you. Fluffy Latte was basically a glass of cold latte, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This one might also be the answer for you who found that the coffee flavor of Affogato was too strong. As it was served cold, it did not only deliver the great taste of the high quality coffee, but also the refreshing sensation that was very ideal for this hot and sunny Jakarta.

Koultoura coffee is highly recommended for you who are trying to find a coffee shop, which does not only sell the high quality taste, but also the cozy place. I really wish they opened a branch in South Jakarta area so it would be more reachable for me :p. I promise I will be one of the most loyal customers if it is realized!

More Sips at Coffee Cup by Cherie

If I challenge you to make a wild guess on why I could find this coffee shop, what will your answer probably be? From friends? Social media? None of them are true. Surprise, surprise, I found out about Coffee Cup by Cherie from a web that usually sells discount vouchers for any restaurants. I randomly decided to buy the voucher as I saw that this coffee shop was located nearby my boardinghouse :p. Then yes, here I was to figure out how the place, and most importantly, the taste would be.

First time arriving at the place, I was actually quite shocked and somehow disappointed looking that it was so small, with only 3 tables inside the venue. I guessed it could just occupy not more than 10 guests. However, don’t get upset yet. Now let’s forget about the problem regarding the place, and let’s go to the taste!

Actually, no heavy meal was served here. Luckily, I have known about this so I indeed came here for desserts and coffee.

Blueberry Cheesecake (IDR 30k)

This cake might have simple-look, but trust me the taste was remarkable! The main part of the cake, which was the cheese layer, had not only super soft texture but also ideal sweetness and creaminess level. The refreshing blueberry jam put on top of the cake made the flavor become even richer. Additionally, I could never forget the base, which was composed of very delicious cookie crumble.

Hot Spanish Latte (IDR 35k)

Having a sip of coffee was a must here. As I have always said, if the coffee itself had exceptional taste, then every types of beverages made from it would taste outstanding. And great news for you, Coffee Cup by Cherie served Tanamera Coffee, one of the best I have ever had in Jakarta. So what did you think about the taste of this Hot Spanish Latte? Definitely, there was no doubt could be put on it! At each sip, you would be pampered with the strong coffee taste, balanced by the sweet condensed milk.

Hot Nutella Latte (IDR 35k)

Reflected by the name, the strong Nutella flavor has been successfully delivered by this one. The coffee flavor itself was barely tasted here. As I was also a chocolate-lover besides a coffee-lover of course, I did enjoy this latte so much. So if you were the ones who loved chocolate more than coffee, you should give this a try some time, rather than stick with the mainstream hot chocolate all the time. As an additional bonus, for every cup ordered, there would be free Hershey chocolate given. :)

Though the place was small and there were only few choices of dishes served on the menu, I was beyond satisfied spending my dessert time here. I really enjoyed everything served on the table. The taste has successfully exceeded my expectation and I highly recommended Coffee Cup by Cherie for you who were looking for great cakes and high-quality coffee.

Pleasant Dining Experience at Largo Bistrot

Largo Bistrot is located in Kemang area, close to Moe’s Place and Cuadrilla. The place is a two-storey building, in which the first floor is dedicated for smoking area, while the second one is for non-smoking one. The design theme for each floor is actually quite different as the first one is more to oldies style, while the second one is more modern. I am really in love with the hanging plants put on the ceiling of the first floor as it gives the fresh and natural ambience. Additionally, for you who love to dine while enjoying live music, this place is definitely you! At certain hours, you are able to enjoy the life band performance, shown on the stage located right in front of your table. On the other hand, for you who want to find cozy atmosphere for chilling, I think the second floor which is furnished with huge comfortable sofas really suit you.

The Second Floor

Largo Bistrot offers the consumers various choices of European dishes, which are all created by its French chef. However, for you whose tongue does not suit with European taste, you needn’t worry as you also have the option to have their Asian menu.

Beef Orlof (IDR 190k)
First impression? Stunning presentation! Combining several ingredients with various colors and serving them together on a squared wooden plate have successfully created a very photogenic appearance. At the middle was the main actor of the dish; the perfectly cooked 200gr beef tenderloin, which was stuffed with generous amount of Edam and Mozzarella and served with distinctively taste brown sauce. At the time you ordered this food, you would always be asked to mention the degree of doneness you desired. Mine here was well done. The beef was so tender and juicy, definitely making you fly since the very first bite. I still could see the slightly pink color at the inner side of the beef and by the time I sliced it, the juice still squirted. Not only that, the crispy outer side of the beef made it even MORE and MORE delicious. And for you the cheese lovers, that melted Edam and Mozzarella cheese would surely create the climax moment for you!

Still not stopping there, this dish would not be complete without the potato gratin and sautéed vegetables. I really loved the light texture and slightly creamy taste of the potato gratin. While for the veggies, the combination of sliced carrot, taro, and spinach sautéed with garlic, have indeed created perfect complementary side dish. Not to mention, the fried enoki put on top of the veggies was certainly an extra plus point delivered by this dish.

Profiteroles Au Chocolat (IDR 55k)

Yeay! My most favorite part, dessert! This one was choux pastries filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with whipped cream and melted chocolate. As seen in the picture, the portion was super generous as the choux size was bigger than the common profiteroles. I loved the texture of the choux as it was so moist. But taste wise, for me it was just okay. What I loved the most from this dessert was the balanced taste created by the mixture of the sweet vanilla ice cream and the slightly bitter melted chocolate topping. Although the vanilla ice cream had already melted when this dish was served :( , but fortunately the taste was still great. Moreover, you needn’t worry that you would run out of the chocolate topping as it was abundantly given for you to pour it on the choux by yourself, as much as you desired.

Fondant Au Chocolat (IDR 55k)

If you’ve ever read some of my previous posts, you might have known that this mainstream dessert was one of my most favorite! As I have always been curious to taste the chocolate melt in every restaurants I visited, thus this Fondant Au Chocolate was definitely unable to be missed. The presentation was actually quite simple, yet looked appealing. Then it came to the moment of truth when I had to slice the cake. Yuhuuu! I was so happy looking at that runny chocolate! Yes, I have experienced the same moment for quite many times, but I also did not know why I was always beyond satisfied every time I found out that the chocolate inside the cake melted out. Ok, enough talking about that, and let’s went to the taste. First spoon………. And………… one word, SUPERB! This time, I have proven that choosing the mainstream one luckily did not go wrong! I really really loved every single element put on this plate. The cake was so moist, the chocolate filling had ideal sweetness level, and the vanilla ice cream was so refreshing! Coming up to balance all those sweets, was the berry coulis with its slightly sour taste. I thought I did not need to give more comment on this. Just one message, if you were a chocolate lover, you would surely regret missing this. Period.

Overall, I really enjoy my dining experience in Largo Bistrot. Not only the main course, the dessert has successfully amused me as well. Not to mention, the service was also first-class. The waitress was really friendly and knowledgeable about every single dishes mentioned on the menu. I was even more pleased when the manager herself, came to my table to ask my opinion about the dishes. All in all, I guess next visit is a must.
