Another Cup to Enjoy at Casa Verde

Yuhuu! Another new coffee shop is now in town! This time, the great news is for those who are around Tebet. Casa Verde is located exactly across Fat Bubble and right below the new branch of BarberBros. Yes, it occupies the first floor of BarberBros place. So for you (especially the male ones) who are going to have your hair cut or maybe who are going to accompany your boyfriend having his hair cut, now you can do it while enjoying a sip of coffee.

The place is actually not that spacious. However, for me the interior designer is really smart in arranging every single corner in this coffee shop as it can fit quite many consumers. The design is simple yet unique. Decorated with black walls with pictures and handwriting on them, this new coffee shop turns to be a cozy place for chilling.

Actually, Casa Verde does not serve any big meals. However, you don’t need to worry as they provide you various choices of cakes, pastries, and other types of desserts. Most importantly, the price is slightly more affordable if compared to other typical coffee shop. Moreover, as they have just been opened recently, there are still lots of promotion given.

Quiche

Combining spinach, sausages, and cheese, this quiche has served you a savoury light meal with great taste! I usually do not really like quiche, especially those having very strong egg taste. However, this one apparently becomes an exception.

Mac n Cheese

As seen in the picture, this is just a simple combination of macaroni and cheese. However, although it only contains very few ingredients, you must not underestimate the taste. Served with quite small portion, this one is definitely an ideal choice for you who are looking for savoury snack.

Avocado Chocolate Cake

This one is my MOST FAVORITE menu from Casa Verde, and will definitely create a new line on my list of most favorite cakes! Basically it is not because I am a sweets lover. Trust me, you gotta give it a try and I believe you will never be able to tell me that it is not exceptional. Even, I highly recommend this cake for you who do not really like something too sweet. Combining strong avocado taste with rich chocolate flavor, this cake has balanced sweetness level. One more additional point, the size is quite too generous for this cake to be called as a sliced cake. As it is better to be shared, the price paid is definitely worthy if compared to what you get.

Hot Green Tea Latte (IDR 27k)

This is not a fluffy cute cat swimming inside a cup. It is hot green tea latte decorated with too-cute-to-be-true latte art. For this one, you might judge the taste based on the appearance. Not only having appealing presentation, this drink is also giving satisfying taste. It is certainly the best choice for those who prefer non-coffee beverage.

Iced Green Tea Latte (IDR 30k)

This one is exactly similar to the hot one. It is just the matter of hot or iced.

Hot Hazelnut Latte (IDR 25k)

Made from fine coffee, the taste of this hazelnut latte is surely not to be doubted. The extra hazelnut syrup mixed into it just creates a perfect cup of coffee to color the day.

Iced Cappuccino (IDR 25k)

Actually, not much thing can be said about this one. All of you must have known cappuccino and what’s inside it. You might have drunk it everywhere for so many times. Yeah, it might be just a glass of cappuccino. However, if the coffee itself is exceptional, having this one might cause you an addiction :p.

GB Bistro & Dessert, Another Dessert Heaven

I was really really happy when I heard that there was another restaurant opened in Senayan City. If you had read some of my previous posts, you might have known that I stayed super close to Senayan City and I could just go there by feet. If you noticed, what actually made me happy was the word ‘dessert’ put on the name of this restaurant. As a dessert holic, my eyes definitely blinked looking at this :p. Without no doubt, I decided to give GB Bistro a try right after its grand opening. Actually I wrote this review after visiting it for several times, so don’t be shocked if you found so many desserts reviewed later on. I definitely did not eat them at one time *hihi*.

The design of the venue blended classic and natural concept. The place was really spacious and cozy. If you were trying to find a place for chilling in Senayan area, GB Bistro should be put on your list. They sold quite wide range of foods, including the Western and the Indonesian ones. For the desserts, you had tons of choices as well! They had gelato, cakes, pancakes, waffles, and many many more, including the ones you rarely found in other places!

Lasagna (IDR 65k)

Actually, this was the first as well as the only savoury dish of GB Bistro I have ever tasted. The portion was just right for me, however it might be quite small for men or for you who had big appetite on savoury dish. Judging it based on the taste, for me it was just so so and I did not find something special. For me, they put too much tomato on this dish, making it cannibalize the flavor of other ingredients, particularly the meat and the cheese.

Warm Bread Pudding (IDR 55k)

Honestly, what did you think when you saw this one? Too mainstream? Boring? Or any other opinion? Yeah. This one might look so common and so simple. But trust me, this one was one of the must-try from GB Bistro desserts list! It had proven that simplicity was indeed the true sophistication. Although it was kinda simple, the taste of each ingredient was so rich! The texture was also brilliant as it was so moist. Most importantly, representing its name, this dish was indeed served warm as it was fresh from the oven! If you asked about the size, it was actually big enough to fully fill-in your tummy. Thus, I recommended you to share it with 1-2 people if you still wanted to enjoy other dishes. For the ice cream, actually this dish should go with vanilla ice cream. Nonetheless, you were always free to request for changing the flavor.

Dark Chocolate Soil Dessert (IDR 55k)

“Euuhh..!” This might be the first expression shown by most of you who had just seen this dessert for the very first time. Conversely, some of you (especially the ones who were daily exposed to social media) might think this dessert was too mainstream since you almost saw its pictures on your social media account every day. As you might see, it was indeed look like soil with warms on it. But did you realize there was something quite weird here? For you who said yes, I guessed you were thinking about something similar to me. Yes, instead of being served in a pot, this dessert was served in a water jug, which was kinda weird because we found soil in a pot, instead of jug :p. Anyway, forget about that. So basically what was in this dessert? From what I tasted, I guessed it was dark chocolate brownie with oreo cookie crumble. And under that ‘disgusting yet delicious’ soil, they actually served one scoop of ice cream, whose flavor you could choose as well. For the worms, I believed all of you had known it since you were still cute little kids. It was definitely Yupi. In a nutshell, if you were a chocolate lover, you might give this a try!

Apple Crumble (IDR 55k)

First time seeing the dish served on the table, my heart danced right away! Not trying to over exaggerate it, but I was just SO SO SO happy looking at the huge portion. As you could see in the picture, yes, I was having like a sauce pan of super good-looking apple crumble. According to my judgment (which other people might either agree or disagree), basically there were 2 types of apple crumble; the one with big cuts of apples and the one with tiny cuts of apples. I personally loved the latter one and guess what, this one exactly matched my preference! I had fallen in love with this dish as it had ideal sweetness level, the apple was fresh, and the cookie crumble tasted exceptional. Additionally, that one scoop of ice cream put on top of the apple crumble had turned this dish into perfection, especially because you were allowed to choose the flavor you desired. This time, I chose Donkey Kong, which was basically peanut butter and crunchy chocolate gelato. The gelato itself was quite good though the peanut butter could not be strongly tasted.

Cannolo Siciliano (IDR 55k)

Bored with the mainstream ones? Then you should go for this! Cannolo Siciliano was GB Bistro’s version of Italian Cannolo with cream-cheese-filled cone rolls, topped with super generous amount of berries, and one scoop of your choice of gelato. For this cannolo, I gave a try for GB Bistro’s mascarpone ice cream. As a cheese fanatic, I SUPER SUPER LOVE THIS! The cream cheese filling was marvelous and I thought it was a wonderfully balanced blend of cheesy and sweet taste! Moreover, the berries toppings had perfectly delivered the refreshing sensation. And as I combined this with mascarpone ice cream, yes, it gave more and more cheesy taste which I loved uber much. Overall, I awarded this dessert as THE BEST DESSERT OF GB BISTRO (in my version)! For you the cheese lovers, you surely did not want to miss this!

Brown McNuts (IDR 59.5k)

This was one of the best-seller gelato sundaes from GB Bistro. It was basically the amazing combination of chocolate and coffee gelato, mixed with home-made chocolate and peanut butter sauce, and topped with caramelized nuts brownies chunks. For you who are craving for rich gelato mixture, without no doubt this is yours! The only thing I could ask for this dessert was just I wanted bigger portion :p

All in all, I highly recommended GB Bistro for those who were hunting for desserts. For you who were seeking for savoury dishes, you might give GB Bistro a try. I myself would definitely go back here to try more of the dishes from their menu. So, wait for my next review! ;)

Authentic Indonesian Coffee at Giyanti Coffee Shop

As reflected by its name, when you firstly arrived at Giyanti, you would see the Balinese-themed decoration. My first impression for the service was perfect! By the time you arrived, a very friendly security would greet you and showed you the direction to the place. You had to pass a quite small alley, which was decorated with green wall. If I might say, the design of this coffee shop indeed made you feel like you were brought back to nature. Everything looked green, fresh, and bright! Surely a perfect place to start your day with a sip of coffee.

Similar to most coffee shops I have visited, the place was not that big. Giyanti provided indoor area as well as semi open-air area. I called it semi open-air as it was actually covered with semi-transparent ceiling. Although the semi open-air area was more spacious, I preferred to sit in the indoor one as it was air-conditioned and definitely cooler :p.

The service was really good as the waiter immediately greeted you and assisted you to find a seat by the time you entered the venue. You’d better come earlier in the morning if you were the one who did not really like crowd. Yes, there were so many people at brunch time and the seats were almost always fully occupied. Not only locals, so many foreigners did love to come here. Ok, back to the service, don’t feel hesitate to ask about everything served in Giyanti. The waiter was very knowledgeable and patiently answered all the details I asked about their foods and coffee.

Besides coffee and several other hot beverages, Giyanti only served light sweet and savoury meals. If you were the ones who favored big portion for brunch, you did not need to worry as you had the option to order foods from Cali Deli and enjoyed them together with your coffee in Giyanti. They did provide the menu and you did not need to leave your seat to make your order.

Apple Pie (IDR 30k)

Lucky me that I was coming there at Saturday, since Giyanti only served its pies on this particular day. There were 3 choices provided; Apple pie, Beef pie, and Chicken & Mushroom pie. Unfortunately, all the savoury pies had been sold out at that time. So I had no option besides the apple pie.

However, I did not feel disappointed at all as the apple pie was really good! The pie crust was exceptional! I really loved the light and crunchy texture as well as the balanced-sweet taste. The filling was also great as it was generously given and the taste was awesome. If I had to add something to make it even better, might be it needed to be made less greasy.

Flamington (IDR 30k)

I ordered this one as I found it very unique. I had never eaten this cake before and even never found it in any other places. It was actually a dark-chocolate cake, filled in with other cake which I forgot what it was (apologize for this :( ), then covered by grated coconut. It was so moist, the sweetness level was just right, and the chocolate taste could be strongly tasted.
Hot Mocha Latte (IDR 36k)

As Giyanti was really famous for their coffee, having a sip of it was a must here! If you were not really a coffee lover, you might prefer to have it mixed with other flavor like chocolate. Then, this Hot Mocha Latte perfectly suited you. This hot drink was surely an ideal blend of coffee, milk, and chocolate.

Hot Cappuccino (IDR 34k)

You might think that hot cappuccino was a very mainstream choice as you could easily find it everywhere. However, this one was distinctive. Made from special Indonesian coffee, this one must never be passed by any coffee lover. I thought I would better not giving too much comments on this and you would better give it a try A.S.A.P.

Besides what's provided on the menu, Giyanti also gave free treats for its guests. You could enjoy free banana and free cucumber infused water as much as you liked :))

All in all, if you said that you are a coffee lover, Giyanti is a must-visit one for you. You can find not only great coffee, but also warm service and cozy place. Just one last thing, please kindly note that it only opens on Wednesday to Saturday. So, what are you waiting for?
