Say hello to another place in Menteng, and this time it’s a giant aquarium in the heart of our beloved J-town. Please don’t imagine it had a huge pool full of fish because I mentioned aquarium there, because I simply called it that way since it’s covered by glass windows, allowing the direct sun-kisses to be enjoyed by all visitors. That would also mean you could enjoy the view of what people doing in the restaurant from the outside.
Actually I did think the outdoor seating was pretty nice as it’s spacious and the road in front wasn’t that busy, sadly it’s just extremely hot sitting there and you would feel like boiling water on top of your head.
The idea of making some Instagenic walls at the open space was smart, knowing they caught most people’s attention first, sometimes even beyond the main thing a restaurant sold - the food. I was clueless if they did purposely decorate it using unused items like broken windows, or they transformed brand new items to look like old ones for aesthetic purpose. Well, in any ways they simply looked catchy!
Chicken Bites (IDR 45k)
The name literally told you what you got; deep-fried bread-crumbed chicken leg! Despite I did prefer the batter coating to be more into karage alike instead of bread crumbs, but I couldn’t deny that I loves anything fried, yeah and bit too much! Leaving it naked got me addicted already, and this time I got the extra happiness from additional toppings given, presenting crispy beef bacon, spicy mayo, and melted mozzarella cheese; in really generous portion! Geez, simple but super mind blowing! It’s weekend and let’s shoo away calories-count ;)
Baileys Creme Brulee (IDR 55k)
Hearing that Baileys word itself was enough to catch my attention right away. So you could expect the dessert landed on my table smoothly without any doubt. The presentation was unfortunately disappointing as I couldn’t have that ‘cracking-the-caramel-layer’ moment *deep-frown*. Nevertheless, luckily the taste came as the savior being not overly sweet and served with just precise creaminess level! The size might look bit petite for the price, but I could say a big YAY to the bold Baileys flavor infused in the creme brulee.
Summer Rain (IDR 45k)
Knowing they’re not really a coffee specialist, I preferred to opt for their peculiar mocktails menu. This first one featured lemon, lychee, and coconut; yes all those refreshing tropical fruits combined into a single drink and I was so excited to have my first sip as the mix wasn’t that common. Meeting the expectation, it’s a pleasant thirst-quencher and perhaps I could say as healthier version of sweet beverage compared to having softdrink or only syrup-based mocktail despite I wouldn’t deny this did contain sugar ;). Just like its name, simply said it’s like the rain in the midst of summer!
Blueberry Castle (IDR 45k)
This ‘palace’ was my sister’s and was another refreshing drink we ordered. Featuring totally different components, this one presented blueberry as the main actor. Unique one it’s paired to was surely the zucchini, even with the stick-cut one used to beautify the appearance. Not losing to the first one, this second drink was great as well and I would not say which was better as it’s the matter of preference.
Though I just had short and simple dining session there, I would say it’s worth to try; adding the long list of restaurants and cafes to visit in Central area.
