I was so glad
when I knew that I won the Food Selfie Competition held by Qraved and The
Papilion. Why? Of course because the gift was a Lunch Buffet at Huize van Wely!
Who didn’t want it? I’ve once dined in its Pacific Place outlet. However, it
was only a dessert time and I definitely would not forget the heavenly taste of
the cakes! Thus, I was so excited for this lunch.
First time
visiting Huize van Wely’s Kemang outlet, I immediately fell in love with the
interior design. Bringing the classic and elegant theme, every single corner
looked impressive. My most favorite one was shown in the first picture. The
ambience felt as if you were sitting at open-air space, while you’re actually
sitting at the indoor area. I actually did not sit there as I came with several
friends so we needed bigger table. But, I did love my place as it was so cozy
and the light was very supportive to get wonderful pictures :p.
Not only was the
venue, the service was also delightful. I wanted to throw a birthday surprise
for one of my friends, and the waiter and waitress were really helpful when I
requested for their assistance. Though this was a buffet, the waiter/waitress
did not mind to take the dishes for you and serve them on your table.
Today’s theme was
Japanese, including for some of the desserts.
Mixture of Various Salads
I started my
lunch with their salads. Yes, they did serve several choices for their salads.
You also could mix them with various dressings. The most unique was the one in
the glass, Japanese Rice Salad (if I
remembered the name correctly), which was basically the combination of
steamed rice, veggies, and smoked beef. Combining spicy and refreshing taste,
this salad was certainly distinctive.
Chikuzenni
This was
basically soup with meatballs and various vegetables, including pumpkin, carrot,
and cabbage. It was a quite simple yet scrumptious dish. The taste was balanced
as some of the ingredients were sweet, while some were savory.
Prawn & Vegetable Tempura
I was sure that
this golden-brown dish did not need much explanation. Anything deep-fried was
always exquisite! Moreover, there were plus points coming from the fresh
ingredients and tasty sauce.
Beef Sogayaki, Grilled Chicken, and Salmon Teriyaki
These 3 were the
main dishes of today’s lunch buffet. Actually for the chicken one, I forgot
what the dish’s name was. Before explaining about the dishes, I wanted to give
credit to my sister for the plating, and of course standing ovation to the chef
for the impressive taste! All the dishes were perfectly cooked and the meat was
so tender. The star of the plate was the Salmon Teriyaki, which was ultimately
delicious! It was served with super smooth and luscious mashed potato with
broccoli, which impeccably complemented the salmon’s sweet taste. Once it went
into your mouth, you couldn’t stop to have more and more of it.
Red Bean Dorayaki, Mochi, Black Sesame Panna Cotta, Matcha Puff,
Strawberry Shortcake
This was my first
round for dessert. When it came to dessert, everything was a must-try! Luckily
they all came in small size so I could try all choices provided. To answer your
curiosity, I would try to explain each of them. Starting with Dorayaki, the
texture was moist and the red bean paste was great. Besides it was the chewy mochi,
whose taste was quite good. The one in front was Matcha Puff, whose matcha
filling was pleasant though the puff was a bit too dry and hard. The Strawberry
Shortcake was my sister’s favorite. The cake was indeed so moist and the
strawberry filling was refreshing. The Black Sesame Panna Cotta was my most
favorite from this plate. The texture was so smooth and the taste was not too
creamy. I actually did not really fancy black sesame. However, as the sesame
taste was not that strong in this panna cotta, I really really loved it!
Eclairs
All the three
flavors were enjoyable, but the chocolate one had the strongest taste for me.
If you were the type of person who didn’t like too sweet desserts, these
eclairs might be perfect for you.
Various Cakes
Honestly, I did
not know the name of these cakes. What I knew were just they looked appealing
and they pampered my taste bud :p. They were actually the petite version of the
cakes sold here. From the top-left plate, I loved the apple pie the most. The
crust was crunchy and the small apple cuts were sweet and refreshing. The
top-right ones were the cakes that delivered balanced mixture of sweet and
sour. If I didn’t mistakenly taste them, they were cheesecakes. The two cakes
in the bottom-left plate were both chocolate-based, the ones any chocolate
lovers would have to go for.
Hot Cappuccino (IDR 55k)
Since the lunch
buffet hasn’t included any drink yet, so we have to order the beverage
separately. This hot cappuccino was my sister’s. Served on a board, the
presentation was quite lovely. I did love the coffee as well as the aroma was
strong but the acidity level was balanced.
Rose with French Vanilla (IDR 45k)
Though I rarely
chose tea for my drink, this time I decided to try something different. My
choice went to this Rose with French Vanilla tea. Unexpectedly, I loved it so
much. The rose scent was delightful and the vanilla flavor perfectly matched
it. And did you spot that little almond cracker? For me it was surely a perfect
bonus.
In a nutshell, I
was beyond satisfied with my lunch today. This was one of the best buffets I’ve
ever had in my entire life. Usually, there were only few dishes which were
exceptional from a buffet. However, this time almost all the dishes were
must-try!
