The Sunday of Three Folks at Three Folks

Calling it a coincidence, last weekend my friend, my sister, and I, yes the three of us visited Three Folks. I just founded it a little bit funny that the 'three' term did match. So moving on from the lucky number three, let's figure out what Three Folks have for us :)

Mainly themed with blue and white, this mini coffee shop took a space in the middle of the lining shophouses at Taman Aries - Meruya. For the ones residing in West Jakarta or those passing this area, you might have been aware of it since the coffee shop was indeed quite visible, particularly because of the big signboard put in front, even before the entrance of the shop-houses complex.

The design looked pretty similar with the recently opened coffee shops. I even got the sense that it somehow had that characteristic of most coffee shops in Serpong area, which were also at approximately the same size. The main difference was definitely the Japanese style of seating but pretty much modified as you didn't need to sit in cross-legged. It's great that this seating was the one located in front, next to the window, and seemed to be the one with biggest space as well. Greater point, it's vacant when we came in so it's definitely ours!

The dishes provided were pretty limited and for sweet breakie, what they called out as their specialists were pancake and waffle added with ice cream. I even just knew that they did offer various flavors of ice cream, not merely the standard ones just for being the companions to the base. Ask for a try and the barista would be serving you friendly.

Hot Cappuccino (IDR 33k)

I would surely not miss my morning addiction regardless it's weekend and simply wasn't required to keep my eyes widely opened and myself fully awake the whole day. It's just a necessity for my palate to meet its caffeine buddy every morning. As usual, the two folks were on the table, yeah you heard it right this time. It's two instead of three folks, but I had them in Three Folks LOL (oops...sorry for the cheesy silly jokes). Starting with the Cappuccino, sadly it wasn't suiting my preference well as it's going too milky. Perhaps the beans used were indeed light roast ones. Well, as it might be back to preference, in case you're one of those who fancied the light coffee, this might be your doze.

Hot Piccolo (IDR 30k)

Not yet getting satisfied with my initial cup, I went to my next order. Smaller size, less milk, giving me the expectation that this should be at least stronger than the prior one. It did come with bolder flavor of coffee, giving extra kick on the palate, yet the ending wasn't coming that smooth. Hmmm... not bad but not my biggest crush as well.

Pancake with Ice Cream (IDR 35k)

Having requested to try some of the ice cream flavors, my choice fell on Coffee and Peanut Butter Chocolate. For sure it would go incomplete with the signature of the house, for which I picked pancake.

First time landed on the table, the three of us turned out having exactly the same thought 'it looked pretty thin'. Having my first bite, honestly speaking the pancake quite too dry. My demanding taste bud craved for something more fluffy with more fragrant aroma, and I guessed a hint of buttery taste would make it more palatable.

Nevertheless, this dish was still saved by the ice cream which was delightful. The chocolate one might be similar to common dark chocolate ice cream, yet the coffee one was awesome with thick coffee flavor, delivering impeccable balance of sweetness and bitterness.

Earl Grey Pound Cake (IDR 28k)

Saving the best for the last, this pound cake came as the satisfying closing with its moist texture - the exactly right level in between airy and dense. Besides the icing sugar at one of its edge which needed to be slightly less sweet, everything else was indulging! The idea of earl grey flavor was a stunning one as it made the cake more acceptable by all palates, not being overly sweet and somehow giving light after-taste.

One unique stuff you could find here and might be only available in limited other places, they provided empty books for customers who wanted to doodle about anything. I could kill my time relaxing while skimming through other people's drawings and hand-writings, a completely distinctive way to enjoy spare time. I could spot so many talented ones that got me mesmerized! Just some improvements to be made on the foods and beverages, then Three Folks would be a flawless spot!
